Faith Cycle by Kim Rounseville
Have you ever let out a long sigh, not realizing you were holding it in until you felt the tension being released along with your breath? Surrendering control to God can feel quite similar to that. C.S. Lewis amazingly articulates what faith is like in this quote, “Relying on God has to begin again every day as if nothing had yet been done.” Faith isn’t something that is ever finished but instead is a recurring decision to hand control over present struggles and worries into God’s capable and compassionate hands.
Lewis’s quote echoes a well-known Bible verse, which can be found in second Corinthians 5:7, which states, “For we walk by faith, not by sight.” This verse doesn’t come with a judgmental tone, and neither does the quote from C.S. Lewis, they are both reminders of God’s ever-present desire for us to trust him with our current anxieties and situations, so that he may bear some of the weight. With God, we can find some peace in the knowledge that we are not doing this life alone.
Learning to depend on God with each new morning is a constant practice in life. Faith is a lesson that can be taught with a generous amount of grace. The art of faith equips us with a deeper understanding of God’s love for us and his presence in our lives, regardless of our worries or doubts
